Newly installed Archbishop Alberto Uy vowed to bring its 4.7 million faithful closer to God. He urged prayers and solidarity for earthquake victims. His first major act of leadership came sooner than expected, as he directed all parishes and rectories to undergo structural assessments after a powerful earthquake struck the province.
