Lea Salonga, First Filipino to Receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Filipino award-winning actress and singer Lea Salonga is expected to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year. She is the first Filipina celebrity to receive this honor.
Aside from Salonga, there have been three male celebrities with Filipino heritage whom the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has recognized. These are singer-songwriter Bruno Mars, rapper Apl.de.ap, and comedian Rob Schneider.
Alongside Salogga, next year’s honorees are Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Molly Ringwald, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, Josh Groban, Shaquille O’Neal, Gordon Ramsay, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Marion Cotillard, Chris Columbus, Bradley Whitford, Noah Wyle, Keith David, Air Supply, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
According to Phil Star, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame selection panel chose the 35 honorees from hundreds of nominees, with final approval given by the Chamber’s board of directors.
