Jaafar Jackson to Star in Michael Jackson’s Biopic Titled’ Michael;’ Watch the Trailer

The King of Pop’s first biopic, Michael, has finally unveiled its debut trailer. Michael Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, will portray the legendary singer in the film.

The upcoming biopic Michael, scheduled for release on April 24, 2026, is directed by Antoine Fuqua. The film also stars Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, and Miles Teller as John Branca.

The trailer captures key moments from Jackson’s career, including the recording ofThriller”, his iconic stage costumes, and signature moves.

Who Is Jaafar Jackson?

Jaafar Jackson is the son of Jermaine Jackson, a member of the Jackson 5, and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza. Born on July 25, 1996, in Los Angeles, Jaafar grew up surrounded by music and performance within the Jackson family legacy. He began singing and dancing at the age of 12 and released his debut single, Got Me Singing, in 2019, featuring a style reminiscent of his famous uncle’s sound.

 

Jaafar was handpicked to play his uncle after an extensive casting process. In a recent interview with EW, Fuqua, the director, said,It’s uncanny how much he’s like Michael.

 

“Sounds like him, dances like him, sings. It’s really uncanny. Graham King, who is a fantastic producer, found him, and introduced him to me, and I was blown away,Fuqua added.

 

The production is backed by Graham King, the Oscar-winning producer of Bohemian Rhapsody, with the full cooperation of the Jackson estate. Jaafar’s casting has been widely praised for its authenticity and resemblance to the pop icon.
