Ex-PH President Rodrigo Duterte Unbothered by Possible Arrest by ICC, 7000 Policemen To Be Deployed
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on high alert as the authorities prepare to deploy thousands of officers to arrest former President Rodrigo Duterte following an Interpol red notice. A trusted source from The Manila Times revealed this news.
The publication said its source is knowledgeable of the security preparations and revealed that 7,000 policemen will be mobilized to arrest the former president. The arrest is related to the investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for thousands of deaths linked to his anti-drug war.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Duterte, along with his daughter Sara Duterte, went to Hong Kong to attend a campaign rally for his political party’s senatorial candidates at the Southorn Stadium in the Wan Chai commercial district ahead of the May 12 midterm elections in the Philippines. Both are the main speakers of the event. As expected, thousands of Duterte supporters gathered, cheering and flag-waving during the rally.
During the event, Rodrigo opened up about the ICC possibly issuing a warrant for his arrest. The ex-President told the audience confidently he was ready to be jailed.
He asked the supporters, “What was my sin?” He added “I did everything in my time so Filipinos can have a little peace and tranquility.”
Duterte told his supporters he’ll accept his fate and added, “I can’t do anything if I get arrested and jailed.”
