
[UPDATE] Apalachee High School Shooting: 4 Dead, 9 Injured
Wednesday, Sept. 4, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed four people were dead and nine were injured in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Barrow County. One gunshot victim was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. The suspect is now in custody.
Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith confirmed during a brief news conference that multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene after receiving multiple reports of an active shooter at 10:30 a.m. The FBI and GBI are involved in the investigation.
At 11:30 a.m., students were released to their families. The school said there were buses for students who needed transportation.
