AJ Lee and CM Punk vs. Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins Confirmed for WWE Wrestlepalooza

AJ Lee made her long-awaited return to WWE Raw on Monday, where she joined forces with her husband CM Punk to issue a challenge to Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins for a Mixed Tag Team Match.

The former three-time Divas Champion received a roaring ovation from the Milwaukee crowd, with fans loudly chanting “welcome back” as she stepped back into the spotlight. Lee had originally retired in April 2015, stepping away from wrestling for nearly a decade. Her return followed a dramatic appearance on SmackDown, where she attacked Becky Lynch after Lynch slapped Punk for the second time.

Lee Opens Up About Her Absence

During her segment on Raw, Lee spoke candidly about her time away from the ring. She explained that she needed to take a mental health break, undergo therapy, and pursue other personal goals before deciding to return to professional wrestling.

Despite her retirement, Lee revealed that she felt content staying away—until she witnessed Becky Lynch physically confront Punk. That moment, she explained, reignited her fire to compete.

Holding onto the Women’s Intercontinental Championship belt, which she had stolen from Lynch, Lee declared:

“I’m your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler.”

Lynch Responds

Becky Lynch, who calls herself “the greatest female wrestler of all time,” stormed to the ring demanding her title back. Frustrated by Lee’s defiance, Lynch sarcastically shouted:

“I’m gonna need to go to therapy after this!”

Lee then placed the championship belt in the center of the ring and dared Lynch to retrieve it herself.

Rollins Steps In

Instead of taking up the challenge, Lynch summoned her husband, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, to the ring. Rollins attempted to negotiate with Lee to retrieve Lynch’s title. However, Lee firmly stated that she would only hand over the belt if Rollins and Lynch agreed to face her and Punk in a Mixed Tag Team Match.

When Rollins tried to take the belt by force, Lee blocked his way. At that moment, Punk made his entrance, catching Rollins from behind before the champion could escape.

Angered and cornered, Rollins reluctantly agreed to the Mixed Tag Team showdown, although Lynch appeared less than thrilled with the decision.

Before leaving the ring, Lee kissed the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and tossed it back to Lynch, symbolizing that their rivalry was far from over.

Match Confirmed for Wrestlepalooza

The highly anticipated bout is now officially set: AJ Lee and CM Punk will face Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins in a Mixed Tag Team Match at Wrestlepalooza on September 20.

With Lee’s return, WWE adds another layer of excitement to one of its most heated rivalries, pitting two of wrestling’s most influential power couples against each other on a major stage.
