Should that be the case, Neymar may be able to play for his country once more in the Copa América. The Copa América will take place in the United States next year.
Neymar shared his thoughts on his injury via his personal Instagram account. According to ESPN’s translation of his post, he admitted that “It’s not easy to go through injury and surgery.”
“I know I’m strong, but this time, I’m going to need my family and friends even more,” he said in his post.
Brazil’s All-Time Record Scorer
Neymar’s latest injury is certainly a downer in what has been a remarkable year for the player.
Back in September, the 31-year-old made a high-profile move to Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He was with PSG for a total of six seasons. He made a total of 112 appearances for the French club and scored 82 goals.
Thus far, he has made three appearances for Al-Hilal prior to his ACL and meniscus tears. He has yet to score a goal for his new club.
Another milestone event that took place in September for the Brazilian is that he became his country’s all-time record top scorer. He has made 79 goals in 129 appearances. Because of this, he surpassed the previous record held by Pelé, who scored 77 international goals in his career.
