On Sunday, Oct. 8, Taal Volcano started to release smog or vog. Afterward, some cities and towns in CALABARZON announced class suspension as per advised by The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) and the Office of the Civil Defense on Monday, Oct. 9.

Laguna Class Suspension

Some local authorities in Biñan, Sta. Rosa, Calamba, and San Pedro suspended classes and ordered a temporary shift to online or modular classes or distance learning.

The spread of the thick volcanic smog has already reached Laguna and was attributed to wind directions and high emission levels, reaching up to 2,400 meters on Sunday, according to RDRRMC.

The agency ordered a class suspension in public and private schools in the towns of Angono and Taytay in Rizal as these areas were affected.
