Rolling Candy Recall

Recall Issued for Rolling Candies Following Choking Incident and Ball Detachment Reports

Rolling candies have been recalled by Cocco Candy of Turkey and KGR Distribution in New Jersey following a choking incident that resulted in the tragic death of a 7-year-old girl earlier this year. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) made the announcement ahead of Halloween, warning that the candy’s rolling ball can dislodge and become trapped in a child’s throat.

The CPSC disclosed that nearly 146,000 units of the candy are being recalled due to this safety concern. The agency reported a heartbreaking incident in which a 7-year-old girl lost her life as a result of choking on this candy in New York last April.

Consumers are strongly advised to immediately stop using the recalled rolling candy, remove it from children’s access, and contact KGR Distribution Corp. for a refund, as per the CPSC’s guidance. The rolling candy comes in various flavors, including Sour Strawberry, Sour Tutti Frutti, and Sour Cola. It was manufactured in Turkey and sold in U.S. stores and online at kgrcandies.com from May 2022 to last March. To request a refund, consumers can contact KGR toll-free at (888) 802-8823 between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on weekdays or email the company at [email protected]. Alternatively, purchasers can visit the “recall information” section on kgrcandies.com.

In a separate recall, the CPSC announced the recall of Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy, as it too poses a choking hazard. Candy Dynamics, the Indiana-based company behind this product, is recalling around 70 million units of the candy. The recall comes after two reports of the ball detaching, although no injuries were reported.

The affected candy was sold in blue (Blue Razz), red (Strawberry), green (Sour Apple), and pink (Black Cherry) packaging with the “TOXIC WASTE” brand and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy” or “MEGA TOXIC WASTE” brand and “SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy” printed on the front label. This candy was manufactured in Spain and Colombia. Consumers can contact the company toll-free at 877-546-0483 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on weekdays or visit candydynamicsrecall.expertinquiry.com or candydynamics.com and click on “Recall Information” to learn more.
