Oppo and Vivo’s Sister Brand Realme Reaches 200 Million Smartphone Shipments in Q2 of 2023
Realme has a reason to celebrate as it reached the milestone in the second quarter of the year.
Realme, a brand owned by Chinese consumer hardware giant BBK Electronics, seems ready to compete with other bigger brands and plans to take on premium phones with its coming Realme GT 5 Pro. The new handset features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Qualcomm’s latest high-end chip.
Before 2023 ends, Realme shipped more than 200 million phones in the year’s second quarter. According to a source, most shipments were outside China.
“We came into existence when there were over 700 smartphone brands in the world,” said Xu Qi, Realme’s chief marketing officer. “We are extremely proud that we have been able to be in the world’s top 10 brands for the past five years,” the marketing officer added.
Based on Counterpoint Research statistics, more than 700 phone brands in 2017. However, it plunged to about 250 in September.
Realme has established its name in the Philippines. Previously, it announced its pre-holiday deals for its Shopee grand launch and introduced its Realme 11 in the country.
