Meet AMODA: SSI Alumni Revolutionizing Construction Industry with Swift, Transparent, and Timely Solutions

JAKARTA, 7th June 2024 – The construction sector in Indonesia remains a key contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), ranking fifth overall. In 2023, it accounted for nearly 10% of the total GDP, with an average value exceeding IDR 2 quadrillion.

However, the industry is still prone to conventional practices and mismanagement, leading to significant challenges. One of the biggest issues is the lack of transparency between contractors and clients, resulting in delays, budget overruns, and suboptimal material quality. The majority (77%) of construction projects experience delays averaging over 20 months, due to issues such as supply chain, workforce, and climate condition management. Perhaps not surprisingly, almost all (98%) of construction projects in Indonesia end up exceeding their budgets, often up to 80% from initial estimates.

Adding to that, construction projects often neglect waste management, with many contractors failing to minimize waste. On average, 30% of materials are wasted per project, and the construction industry contributes 8% of total carbon emissions. With the compounding problems and the lack of transparency and certainty, customers’ trust is gradually eroded.

AMODA (PT Ada Untuk Dunia) aims to debunk these stigmas by providing fast, transparent, and high-quality construction solutions. Founded in 2021 by Robin Yovianto and Agusti “Bojes” Salman Farizi, the startup incorporates technology throughout its process to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and with efficient use of materials and time.  With these solutions, customers can save up to 20% benefit from timely project completion, and avoid delays in business operations, leading to faster turnover of productive assets.

“AMODA utilizes cloud manufacturing construction technology integrated with ecosystem partners. This allows our project leads to monitor multiple projects simultaneously, making our process significantly more efficient and accurate. Furthermore, the construction process is integrated with the AMODA for Builders app, providing clients with real-time data transparency and project updates. With this technology, clients can track project progress without being on-site, ensuring smooth communication and improving their overall satisfaction,” said Robin Yovianto, CEO of AMODA.

As a one-stop solution for construction and real estate needs, AMODA offers three main services. First, it has a selection of multifunctional prefabricated spaces that are manufactured off-site and assembled on-site. These include ErgaPods, designed primarily for commercial retail pop-up spots, and Ergahuts, mini huts designed for the hospitality sector. The prefabricated spaces accelerate the construction process without compromising quality. They come with end-to-end support, various size options to meet client needs, and a one-year warranty covering any manufacturing defects.

“Our plug-and-play prefabricated building system allows AMODA spaces to be relocated to new sites. This flexibility greatly benefits retail and F&B businesses, making it easier for them to expand and move their branch locations. With AMODA, their investment and capital expenditures are no longer tied to a single location; everything can be relocated,” added Robin.

Aside from that, AMODA also offers custom-build with prefabrication panelized technology, ranging from building ground up to renovation. This second solution allows clients the freedom to build according to their specific needs faster and more predictable. To date, AMODA has successfully constructed over 350 building units, with trust from over 140 clients. Their portfolio spreads across Indonesia, from Java, Bali, Kalimantan, to Papua, and includes renowned clients such as Kopi Janji Jiwa, Ruma.id, Rekosistem, PLN, Transjakarta, and Blibli.

As an alumnus of the Startup Studio Indonesia (SSI) Batch 6 acceleration program, AMODA has built an extensive track record in the past few years. “Since our graduation, we’ve secured new investment funding and experienced a 7x increase in business growth within just one year. The SSI program has been an important milestone in our company’s journey. Beyond enhancing brand trust, we’ve gained invaluable insights and knowledge throughout the training, especially in navigating common pitfalls for startups like ours,” remarked Robin.

Boni Pudjianto, Director of Digital Economy, Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Informatics, commented to AMODA’s success story: “We believe that considering the promising potential of the property sector in Indonesia, AMODA will be even bigger in the future, thanks to their cloud-based technology that make construction projects significantly faster, transparent, and timely. Innovative solutions like AMODA represent the local startups that deserve support from the government. We hope that with targeted programs such as SSI, we can serve as catalysts for the advancement of the digital economy in Indonesia.”
