Lionel Messi And Jordi Alba Injured? Left Inter Miami Victory Early

Because of muscle fatigue, Lionel Messi was substituted at minute-37 of Inter Miami CF’s 4-0 victory over Toronto FC on Wednesday, just minutes after Jordi Alba left the field.

Miami coach Gerardo Martino stated after the match that both Messi and Alba would be evaluated in the coming days, but that neither player would be available for the upcoming Orlando City match on Sunday so that they might be at a 100% for the U.S. Open Cup final against Houston Dynamo next Wednesday.

“There is no chance they will be there on Sunday. I know we have a final to play [next Wednesday] but they won’t go near the pitch if they can’t play,” said Martino.

Messi and Alba were not visibly limping but were clearly in some kind of physical discomfort. Martino claimed that both trained normally and they felt they were ready to play. Martino added at he doesn’t believe it’s anything new and it’s just fatigue. However, Martino stressed that they still need to be vigilant.
