Kenny Omega’s Health Update: Dealing with Diverticulitis
Serious Health Scare
Kenny Omega’s health has taken a serious turn as he faces a diagnosis of diverticulitis, a condition that led to his recent hospitalization. The severity of the situation was highlighted by wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.
Diagnosis and Emergency Hospitalization
Omega, in a statement released on Friday, informed fans that he would be on an indefinite hiatus due to health reasons. Meltzer revealed that Omega experienced intense pain, prompting an emergency visit to the hospital on Friday. Initially, Omega believed the pain was related to a hernia, similar to the one he dealt with in 2022.
Critical Situation Averted
Meltzer emphasized the gravity of the situation, explaining that had Omega delayed seeking medical attention for another day or so, the outcome “could have been horrendous.” The misdiagnosis of the pain as a potential hernia, coupled with bloating concerns related to his diet, led Omega to continue training and even participate in a match with Ethan Page.
No Set Timetable for Return
As of now, there is no set timetable for Omega’s return to the ring. A concerned Tony Khan, AEW President, addressed the situation during the ROH Final Battle post-event media scrum. While leaving updates to Omega himself, Khan expressed optimism about Omega’s recovery.
Omega had a scheduled tag team match alongside Chris Jericho, challenging AEW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks & Big Bill at Worlds End on December 30, but the status of this match is now uncertain due to Omega’s health setback.
