Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Trailer Unveils Chilling NYC Transformation
The much-anticipated sequel to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” is now officially known as “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” and it’s bringing a frosty apocalypse to the streets of New York City.
The freshly released trailer for the upcoming Ghostbusters installment takes viewers on a chilling journey through the icy landscapes of NYC. Previously teased as the Death Chill, a supernatural temperature drop, this lethal force threatens the city’s very existence.
Dan Aykroyd’s seasoned Ghostbuster, Raymond Stantz, ominously describes the perilous effects of the Death Chill, mentioning bone-cracking cold and veins turning into rivers of ice. He paints a grim picture, leaving audiences with the haunting image of their own tear ducts freezing up.
Returning to the Roots: Ghostbusters Face a Subzero Challenge
In “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the Spengler family makes a return to the iconic New York City firehouse, where the Ghostbusting legacy began. Collaborating with the original Ghostbusters, the Spenglers utilize a top-secret research lab to elevate their ghost-busting capabilities. However, when an ancient artifact unleashes a malevolent force, both new and old Ghostbusters must unite to safeguard their home and prevent a second Ice Age from engulfing the world.
The teaser introduces familiar faces from the franchise, including Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Celeste O’Connor, Carrie Coon, Logan Kim, Paul Rudd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd himself, who played a significant role in creating the original 1984 Ghostbusters.
Meet the Newcomers: Excitement and Mayhem in Subzero Conditions
Ghostbusters enthusiasts also get a glimpse of newcomers Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt in the trailer. Oswalt’s character appears notably enthusiastic about the impending subzero chaos, adding a touch of humor to the frosty narrative.
Directed by Gil Kenan and written by Kenan and Jason Reitman, the filmmaker behind Ghostbusters: Afterlife, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is set to continue the Ghostbusters legacy. Jason Reitman expressed his desire for Ghostbusters: Afterlife to “set the table” for future sequels, and in June 2022, during the “Ghostbusters Day” event, he confirmed the development of the next installment, bringing the franchise back to its roots in New York City.
Mark your calendars for March 29, 2024, when “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is scheduled for release. Meanwhile, dive into the teaser trailer to catch a glimpse of the bone-chilling adventure that awaits.
