March 11, Tuesday – Former President Rodrigo Duterte arrived at Manila’s international airport and was arrested by police on the order of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The arrest is due to the connection with a case of crime against humanity filed against him.

The PH Government confirmed the news through its official Facebook page. In a post, Duterte and his team arrived from Hong Kong, boarding Cathay Pacific CX 907. Upon arrival, the Prosecutor General served the ICC notification for an arrest warrant against the former President for crimes against humanity.

The same statement stated that PNP officials who executed the warrant ensured that they were wearing body cameras. Duterte is now in the custody of the authorities.
