The former leader of the South Side Compton Crips street gang has been indicted by a grand jury in Nevada after he was arrested in his home in Las Vegas. The indictment is for one count of murder with a deadly weapon.
Progress in Tupac Shakur’s Murder Investigation
According to CNN’s report, it was Davis who ordered the murder of the rapper. He is alleged to have come to this decision after Shakur had a fight with his nephew in a casino. Hotel security camera footage reportedly shows the nephew being beaten.
It should be noted that Davis previously admitted that he was in the vehicle where the shots that killed Shakur were fired from. In fact, in a 1998 interview, he said that he was in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
The 1996 Murder
The shooting of Tupac Shakur took place on September 7, 1996.
He was killed in a drive-by shooting incident in Las Vegas, Nevada at 11:15 p.m. The car carrying Shakur had stopped at a red light. A white Cadillac then pulled up to the car’s right side. Gun shots from a .40 S&W Glock 22 were then rapidly fired from the vehicle.
The rapper was hit four times. Two bullets hit his chest, while his arm and thigh were hit once each. The person driving the car Shakur was in, his friend Suge Knight, was hit in the head by a fragment. Despite this, Knight was able to drive until he and his friend were able to receive help.
The rapper died six days later on September 13. He was only 25 years old at the time of his death.
