Algerian boxer Imane Khelif Bags Gold Medal in 66kg Bout at Paris Olympics 2024

Despite the controversy surrounding her gender, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif was so focused on her goal. She secured a gold medal in the 66kg category at the Paris Summer Olympics after defeating Yang Liu on Friday, Aug. 9, held at the iconic Roland Garros Stadium.

Khelif had been dominating since the start of the fight, winning the first round. She continued showing good performance as she managed to win the second round; she gave Liu powerful punches, putting the Chinese boxer on the defensive. In the third round, the Algerian boxer got the higher scorecards from the judges. After the final bell, Khelif was declared the winner by unanimous decision. After the fight, the fighter thanked her supporters and team.
