Linkin Park Releases New Album, Announces Additional Shows

American rock band Linkin Park formally released its new album “From Zero” on Friday (Nov. 15) at the strike of midnight, US Eastern Time (05:00 UTC).

The band also announced additional concerts for its From Zero tour ahead of the album release.

According to Rolling Stone, the band will kick off its tour on Jan. 31, 2025 in Mexico City, and is expected to tour the two Americas and Europe. However, the band would only be appearing in three shows across Asia: Two nights in Tokyo (Feb. 11-12) and one in Jakarta (Feb. 16)

Tickets are expected to be available from Nov. 18, according to the band’s account on X (formerly Twitter).

Renewed Strength

Linkin Park returned to performing in early September, with band leader Mike Shinoda introducing its new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong, who succeeds Chester Bennington in the role after he committed suicide in 2017.

Some fans of the band were critical of Armstrong’s inclusion into the band, perceiving that it was attempting to erase Bennington’s memory, as well as criticizing her affiliation with the Church of Scientology, and in particular, with disgraced Hollywood star Danny Masterson.

However, others claim her addition was simply to allow the band to move forward as the late singer intended, and theorized that her being a lesbian and her previous work with the band Dead Sara was a cryptic message against Scientology.

Ahead of the album’s release, Shinoda explained the importance of the date November 14 for the band in a tweet

From Zero World Tour

Since the first livestream, Linkin Park released at least four singles with music videos: “The Emptiness Machine” (which the band performed for the first time during their comeback show), “Heavy is the Crown” (which was used for the 2024 League of Legends World Championships), “Over Each Other” (which Armstrong and band DJ Joe Hahn filmed in South Korea around the time of the band’s Incheon show), and “Two Faced” (which was uploaded ahead of the album’s official release).

The band also made a limited preliminary tour prior to the album’s release, beginning in Los Angeles and set to conclude in Riyadh at the MDLBeast Soundstorm on Dec. 12.

Reception on the Album

Initial responses to “From Zero” were overwhelmingly positive, including comments calling it their “album of the year,” as well as gifs and memes from screen grabs from the “Two Faced” music video.

“I just got transported 20 years back, I’m that awkward kid on the bus again, rocking out to Hybrid Theory on my Walkman,” one user tweeted. “Emily absolutely nailed it on the album. Kudos to everyone involved.”

“I can’t believe the band I loved since I was 8 is not only back but the music is still good,” another commented.

“I never expected it to be this good. My compliments for releasing your new music,” a third added. “I believe that Chester is proud of what you have accomplished.”
