The news was confirmed by his son, Gunnar Eudy, who shared the announcement on social media, expressing deep sorrow at the loss of his father.

Gunnar Eudy took to Facebook to inform the wrestling community and fans worldwide of his father’s passing. “I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after battling cancer for several years,” Gunnar wrote. He described his father as “a man of strength, kindness, and love,” adding that Sid’s presence would be greatly missed. Gunnar also mentioned that details regarding a memorial service would be shared soon and thanked everyone for their support during this difficult time.

WWE’s Condolences

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) also acknowledged the passing of Sid Eudy. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), WWE expressed their sorrow, saying, “WWE is saddened to learn that Sid Eudy has passed away.” The organization extended its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends, and fans, recognizing the significant impact he had on the world of professional wrestling.

The Rise of a Wrestling Icon

Born in Arkansas, Sid Eudy began his professional wrestling career in 1987 with Continental Championship Wrestling under the ring name Lord Humongous. Standing at 6-foot-9, the imposing wrestler quickly made a name for himself by winning the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Southeastern Heavyweight Championship later that year. He also teamed up with Shane Douglas to capture the NWA Southeastern Tag Team Championship, solidifying his reputation as a formidable competitor in the ring.

WWE and WCW Stardom

Eudy’s career reached new heights when he joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and later debuted with WWE (then known as the World Wrestling Federation) in 1991 under the moniker Sid Justice. His time in WWE saw him challenge iconic wrestlers like Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VIII and engage in intense rivalries with The Ultimate Warrior. Sid’s imposing presence and fierce persona made him a fan favorite and a formidable opponent in the ring.

In 1993, Eudy returned to WCW as Sid Vicious, where he continued to make waves in the wrestling world. He took on Van Hammer, teamed up with Vader, and engaged in a memorable feud with Sting. Despite setbacks, including a loss to Sting at Halloween Havoc, Sid Vicious remained a dominant force in WCW.

Championships and Challenges

Eudy’s wrestling journey saw him compete in various promotions, including the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) from 1994 to 1996. He returned to WWE and achieved significant success, winning the WWF Championship twice—first against Shawn Michaels and then against Bret Hart—before eventually losing the title to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 13.

A neck injury in 1997 led to Eudy’s temporary departure from WWE, during which he made appearances in independent promotions, Mexico, and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). However, his return to WCW in 1999 marked another high point in his career, as he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Kevin Nash.

A Near-Career-Ending Injury

Sid Eudy’s wrestling career nearly came to a halt in 2001 when he suffered a devastating leg injury while attempting a move from the second turnbuckle during a match against Scott Steiner. The injury was severe, and doctors advised him that he might never wrestle again. Despite the grim prognosis, Eudy made sporadic appearances in various promotions until 2017, showcasing his resilience and love for the sport.
